Friday: We celebrated Jar's birthday at their house in La Mirada with handmade calzones & friends. We were the last to leave the fiesta at 1:00 am.
Saturday: Tiff and I helped Mom get ready for a baby shower she was throwing for a friend from church.
Saturday (again): At 8 pm, once the party was cleaned up, Peter and I headed to Glendale. Backtrack with me a moment. As I was dismissing my kids at 3:30 on Friday I received a call from an old college housemate. We do not talk regularly so I knew either she was engaged or something was up with Heidi's engagement. Her and Heid live together currently (and for those just joining us, Heidi is my college roommate of 4 years and a very dear friend). I answered the call as I walked toward the parking lot. "Heidi is getting engaged tomorrow and Bryce wants people to be at his house at 9:15 pm to celebrate!" "Done!" Wouldn't have missed it for the world. It was a wonderful celebration and like the night before we weren't in bed until well after 2 am.
Sunday: We woke up early to a phone call from my parents saying Peter's bike, which was parked outside their house because of last night's multiple events, blew over in the night. This was obviously very disappointing and frustrating. Peter couldn't go back to sleep and so we got up and went to see the damage. It wasn't too bad. Good thing he and his dad installed the sliders he got for Christmas! Just after 11 we hoped in the car with Mom and Dad for our fourth and final shindig- Jar's family party. At their apartment we watched the football game, ate Costco pizza, opened presents and indulged in one of Tiff's new dessert specialties. Yum. By 3:30 we were on the road, headed straight for the "Blue couch". Peter and I fell asleep on the short 45 minute drive home and as soon as the car was unloaded, all 4 of us were horizontal on the couch...5 if Molly counts. Mom and I were asleep in no time while the boys watched the second game. When we woke up it was dark. Peter left for work about 6:30 and I am now finally home. It was a fabulous weekend. I now need a weekend to recover from my weekend.
Happy birthday! Congratulations! Congratulations! and one more Happy birthday!
