Excuse Me!?!?

Home Depot stopped by our house to give us a quote on a new front door. Let's just say it's not the most sound of structures. Peter picked out the door and hardware while I was upstairs making dinner. I wasn't paying much attention but then heard him say "Ok, we will talk it over and give you a call." This was odd since I told Peter to do whatever he wanted with choosing the look and we both knew we needed one so it was kind of a done deal. Suspicious, I went downstairs.
When they weren't looking I whispered, "Why aren't you saying 'yes'?" He shared that the door would cost $2,000. I laughed out loud. Neither of us could believe the quote. This door (made of rare and precious gems apparently) that we were inquiring about looks exactly the same as the door we have...standard, plain, in accordance with our HOAs. What on earth about it could be $2,000. I was expecting $300. $500 wouldn't have surprised me but it would have annoyed me. But no, $2,000!!!!!! I told Peter I would rather risk a robber breaking in than having Home Depot stealing from me right before my eyes.
A couple hours later we were sitting together on the couch and Peter bursts out randomly, "$2,000!?!?"
yep, $2,000.

Maybe we were in a coma but we certainly weren't whippin' out our credit cards or signing on no dotted line.

This is where I hear my Dad's voice, "Welcome to home ownership," with a "doesn't that part stink" smirk.

xo, p&l

peter did some more research. To do the door ourselves (same door, same hardware) would cost a mere $300. Ya...A bit of a difference. So who wants to be invited to our door hanging party?!?!?
