Planner Day

Warning:
If you don't already think I'm crazy...by the end you will.
As previously mentioned throughout the blog, I love planning. Well, naturally, the day I shop for my next year's planner is a very exciting event. Today was that day. I always go to Barnes & Noble because they have the coolest stuff. Every year they change their size, shape, and/or no longer carry the one I used the year before. This is always the smallest of tragedies since I grow to love my previous year's planner once I get over the adjustment period in January. This year was no different. I had to go back to my 2009 model since they turned my 2010 model into a funky rectangle shape and shrunk the boxes. I have a few particulars about my planner...
1. I like adequate space to write on each day
2. It must have lines
3. It may not have time slots throughout the day. Ug!
4. It needs to open easily and be easy to write in. I don't want to have to pry open my planner
5. Must be cute...I'm going to carry it around for 12 months
That's it.
No, I don't have a set day every year (that's too weird). I was kinda late this year (sometimes I get it in October) and it was bugging me that I couldn't write things down for January. Last year, Planner Day was a huge deal because as I shopped, their was extra pressure..."This is the planner I'm getting married in!"
I just went through this year's calendar to write in birthday's and such for 2011. I wrote down so many great details about 2010!
On January 20th, we shopped for my wedding band. On February 8th the bridesmaid dresses came in; they were the wrong color. On February 18th I picked up my wedding dress. Two days later Peter and I built our first snowman. On March 10th I bought my first pair of converse- purple. On April 5th we found Victoria. On April 9th, the bridesmaid dresses came in for the second time...the right color this time. April 27th was the day we picked up our marriage license. On May 5th I subbed for an orchestra class at Woodbridge High (hahahahaha- I don't know a lick about music). We bought our bedroom set on May 25th. On May 29th we went to In-n-Out for lunch after Peter graduated. May 31st was the best day of our lives. We paddled passed a shark on June 12th on our awesome honeymoon. I spent $32.61 at Trader Joe's on June 18th. Peter passed the NCLEX on July 8th. I crashed my DMV test on July 26th; that was such a terrible event. Peter interviewed for his current job August 6th. We slept at a rest stop in Idaho on August 13th. Nathan's dog pooped in the pool August 19th. This was particularly devastating considering it was very hot and I wanted to swim. I got my current job on September 9th. September 15th I returned moldy cheese at Albertsons. September 23rd we watched Prison Break the whole day. October 3rd we made an offer on our condo and got the keys on the 15th. We sold the old stove on October 20th for 55 bucks. I made our Christmas cards on November 7th (crazy planner or what?!). We painted our bathroom December 5th. And today...Peter and I saw each other for less than 1 hour as we rushed to catch up on today's and yesterday's events- both having exciting stories to share while making dinner, he's getting ready for work, and I'm packing his lunch--more accurately called a midnight dinner.
I told you I'm crazy! Who records when they return moldy cheese?! Me! I recorded everything we ate, did and saw each day on our honeymoon. I record poopy pools?! It's safe to say I'm all about documentation...hence the blog I frequently update...

xo, p&l

  1. oh my goodness! that was a crazy post! I had no idea that you recorded all those things. No wonder when I had the journal I would cover 3 weeks worth of events with one vague and foggy recollection and you would have perfect little entries for every day. I love you and your organization and our polar differences.
