i lost.

So it was my personal mission to convert Peter from a microwave to a toaster oven. He was not very excited about my project. As the days went on though, his resistance began to melt away. It was pretty exciting to see him taste the brilliance of a Toasty oven pizza, take in the wonderful aroma of his favorite cinnamon crumb cake, and bake chicken in half the time. I was doing good. I was winning. Anything Mikey (microwave) did Toasty could do better. Well, just when I thought the longing for a nuke box was over, we hit a stumbling block. Peter wanted to reheat leftover pizza. Toasty got the job done, well might I add, but instead of 45 seconds it took 5 minutes. He admitted one tasted like hot-out-of-the-box while the other tasted like a "I barely survived a nuclear war" yuck. He also tried to reheat a drive thru burger (several problems in this case) and was dissatisfied with the wait time. And the mac and cheese-- same story. I was going down hill and fast!
After all his hard studying for the NCLEX (still waiting for the results) he needed a special treat. So, as I write, Mikey and Toasty are in the kitchen, on opposite counters staring at one another; it's a face off. While I did lose the battle I feel I have won the war. Peter admits there is a significant difference in taste and quality. He did go 39 days without a microwave in his home. When people discovered we didn't have one, it was a unanimous wave of shock splashed across their face. One more plus to Toasty, our full size oven has three temperatures remaining on the knob- 450, 500, & 550. All the rest are as good as a guess.

Tomorrow Peter is going shooting with the manly men out in Palm Springs. I will be sleeping in. Then we get to entertain company! I've been so eager for Peter to finish boards so we can start having people over. Today I called all three Grandmas and made dates with them. We are so excited to have them come see our much more complete place. Interesting fact: All three Grandma's suggested eating out. I invited them over, and they want to go out. No one trusts me in the kitchen!! Aye, aye, aye! How am I going to get good if no one lets me practice!? Shesh! Oh well, guess I'll have to try on the next batch of guests. (insert evil laugh)

Ok, I'm tired. peace out.

xo, p&l
