We have taken two trips to our new home. It was so much fun! Saturday we loaded up the Excursion with our kitchen table and chairs plus every shower gift we could squeeze in on the sides. Our mattress and box spring were tied securely to the top.
When we got there, we did the walk through with our manager, met a few more neighbors, and then started unloading. It was already a piece of work getting the above mentioned (heavy and awkward) items down the staircase at my house so I wasn't to excited to transport them to our second story apartment from the parking lot. With Peter's encouragement I was able to heave and ho my way through the lot, 'round the ben, up the stairs, over the threshold, and into the designated rooms. I'm makin' sure someone else is comin' with us when we bring a frig in!
The kitchen needed some cleaning and drawer paper so the shower gifts didn't go beyond the counter and once we were all unloaded and had jumped around with excitement for a while we figured we should head to the Styffe's to continue celebrating Peter's 23rd birthday.
At home, Elizabeth surprised us with a trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond to get "a few things". Peter, Rach, Elizabeth and I hoped in the car and drove cross town.
We needed two carts. We loaded up 2 bar stools, a bed in a bag (4 shams, comforter, bed skirt, 2 decorative pillows), 2 shower curtains (fabric and plastic), 4 pillows to fill the shams, and shower curtain hooks. Oh ya, and 2 handle towels-- a "p" and a "l". Crazy! Next we stopped by Target to grab the sheets Peter wanted after reading the Consumer Report cover to cover. Nearly if not all our registry items have been "consumer report approved". My honey does his research.
When we got back home we joined Grandma, Grandad, Matthew, Aunt Esther & Uncle Rick in a very joyous celebration. Steak, cake, company, tons of presents, pictures, lots of noise, etc!
The next day Peter had to do some homework...nasty stuff. So I was at home making trip after trip up and down the stairs setting more stuff by the door to take to our home. I was loving it. My sister's room was my storage yard and now it is nearly empty! I was washing the sheets and bath towels, ironing the bed skirt, all that sort of stuff. Peter came over in the evening and we once again loaded the beast...I mean the Excursion. Nothing on top this time. But we did have to roll down a window so the back of a leather chair could hang out. Ha. He is so clever. My parents drove separately with a full car as well. Once there, I went to town unpacking. I'm just totally loving this moving bit. I have always enjoyed packing and unpacking each year at Biola.
We don't have the electricity on yet so we hustled to soak up as much day light as possible. Peter's family came about an hour later and we got to show them around. We were just having a blast. Peter had the bar stools set up in minutes. The shower curtain looks amazing. We love the bedding. Mom and Peter started scraping the cupboards. Party! Tiff and I will be there to do some more moving, relocating, analyzing which cupboard should hold the plates vs the cups sort of stuff. Yes, it is safe to assume I am totally jazzed for Thursday. Hangin with me sis in my new place = Whooooo!
Also I called the electric company and we should have lights. I felt like such a big girl!
I'll keep you posted. We took a super cute video but I have to figure out how to post it on here. I'll get back to you on that one.
Also, Also, I had a not so amazing day at work today but when I got home-- SURPRISE! Two wedding presents on the doorstep. Now how cool is that! They were our first delivered wedding presents! An ice chest and our salad bowl with tongs. :)
love, p&l
