Today's Projects

Today Peter finished the chandelier project. Originally the chandelier hung from the ceiling and then the wiring/chain took a big, deep swoop over to the wall. I did not appreciate this feature. One of my first home improvement questions was, "Can we please re-route that wire???" "No." After further discussion and investigation, the project was underway. Peter climbed into the attic and pulled the wires to the more desired location. We then got some tubing stuff (the technical name) to cover the wire and attached it on the outside of the beam. It's just beautiful. It makes me so happy. Peter can do anything he puts his mind to! Now when you come over and admire our new chandelier, you won't be distracted by the extra loopy chain!
Also accomplished today: Our dear friend Ben (wedding groomsmen) came over and measured, cut, and painted all our baseboards. AWESOME! Such a huge help! I removed the dimmer switch on the chandelier that was busted and replaced it with a regular switch. We bought 3 new switches for that first spot right when you come up the stairs (79 cents each) and it's just amazing what a difference it makes. The brown dingy ones to sparkly new whites ones- so simple. I'm a details girl though, what can I say.
Peter started the dry wall process for patching up the spot where the Chandelier wiring use to come out of the wall.
I moved boxes, unpacked, rearranged, removed all my lovely decor so the construction people would not be irritated by my seasonal touches. :) FYI, I am really downsizing in the kitchen. My drawers don't even fit a rolling pin! :(
A huge 5 buck improvement: the fireplace! We covered all the surrounding area, removed the pebbles, wood and wood rack and then spray painted it black. You wouldn't believe the difference. Who knows how many braincells Ben lost in the process but man it looks good!! Darn good! Seriously, it's going to be the inexpensive projects that will make the house, I just have a feeling about it.
All of our plants have been relocated. When I came home tonight to Victoria all that greeted me was my mat...Our front porch was down right depressing considering I use to be greeted by 5 plants, a cute table and chair and 4 pretty lanterns. Strange.
The other night while Peter was doing projects that I was not needed for, I rolled all our coins. I figured it was a good project for the time...Well, it was! $176 later I walked in to the bank with a sore arm. Whoo!
We dropped off the truck tonight. Thank you! Thank you, to Tiff and Jar for letting us borrow it for 2.5 days! Such a huge help! Peter and Ben just decided to go back to the condo to do the second coat of paint on the baseboards. They are crazy! Must be nice to not have to go to work in the morning. They also just decided to do the baseboards in the entry way and on the 2 staircase landings. OK!
One more thing before I go to bed...Sunday night we pulled up at Victoria at 10:00 pm and I realized I left the house key at the condo. Big bummer. We contemplated the options for a second- drive back to the condo, knock on the manager's door, etc. I suggested to Peter he break into our house. I came up the stairs a few minutes behind him to hear, "We're in!" I'm tellin' ya, that man can do anything! He broke us into our own home. He lifted the glass panel off the window...We leave our windows cracked with a piece of pipe stuck in the track. It helped with more than just air circulation that night!

OK, I'm pooped.

xo, p&l
