Pumpkin Patch

It is not uncommon for me to call Peter "pumpkin patch" but last weekend we actually went to one! Mom and Dad bought an RV....a big one....a house on wheels. They have dreamed about this for years and actually walked off the Repo lot with one this time! I am so excited for them. We took our first trip to Oak Glenn and loved it! Dad took the beast up the windy mountain road to the pumpkin patch. We noticed on the way up and in the parking lot that no other RVs had ventured the trek with such a monster....hmm. The pumpkins were way over priced to pick and we were doing all the labor so we just enjoyed walking through the patch, taking pictures and watching other families. After, we went to the "hot spot" where the apple bakeries were and arts and craft booths lined the street for tourist to buy silly trinkets. I almost bought a bird house but Peter convinced me without words that it was lame. He is very talented. I must admit he was right.

Back at the camp site we, excuse me, they set the RV up. Peter was their for the day and got to explore it with my parents. I laid on the couch inside and read my book. I know...I'm bad. But it was a terribly sad book and I needed to get through it A Long Way Gone: Memories of a Boy Soldier.

We had a wonderful time and laughed the whole weekend through. Mom made eggs and bacon for breakfast in her new kitchen with her new red pan. We had cold drinks with dinner. When we took a shower we didn't have to walk cautiously back to our campsite in effort to avoid getting dirt on our feet before bed. We had only one bug sneak into our cozy home and I smacked it with the swatter. I don't know if Peter will be able to drag me up a mountain with a 20 lb bag on my back just so I can sleep on the top after camping in such luxury! We'll see. Next weekend we will be in Carlsbad. Mom's going to try to bake my birthday cake in the little oven. :)
